ACTIVITIES
of the
Active Archaeology Group

As well as projects and meetings, the group organises various other archaeological activities. For example:

  • A fieldwalking exercise at Cuddington near Aylesbury yielded a small number of pottery finds, and was followed by a finds identification evening at the County Museum.
  • Guided walks include one of earthworks near Little Missenden where quantities of Roman pottery have been found, and another near Bradenham to explore woodland archaeology.
  • A guided visit to an excavation site in Stablebridge Road, Aston Clinton, viewed a previously unknown section of the Icknield Way and two hut circles.
  • And various members of the group have taken active part in excavations organised by others, in Monks Risborough, Wing, St Albans, Maids Moreton, Monks Risborough and Great Missenden.
